Why All The Violence?
For centuries the human race has seems to have developed an affinity for violence towards our fellow man. The history books are stained with the blood of millions of individuals that have died during this conflict or that conflict.
Nations have conquered each over for thousands of years and now we sit in the year 2014 and some would say we are more a more "developed" species or that we are more "advanced" than our ancestors. But is this really true? From what I see the only thing that has become more advanced are the weapons that are used to destroy each other. I can't turn on the news without hearing about Country A launched a missile at Country B or that Country C is threatening to invade Country D. Just this week a commercial airliner was shot out of the sky for absolutely no reason.
Can we really say that we are any better than the previous inhabitants of this planet? People still kill each other over ridiculous religious beliefs claiming that "god" has promised this piece of land to one group while the other claims that "god" promised it to them. Power hungry leaders of countries still invade others in hopes of gaining even more power and killing innocent people along the way.
I have never been to war and I stand up and applaud all those who have served to protect this country. I understand that at times force is necessary to protect this country and also understand that this line of thinking applies to other countries as well but when will countries being at war no longer be the norm? It's pretty sad that my first thought after hearing about another bombing, invasion, or conflict is "Well that's normal these days" and go about my day without giving it a second thought.
If we want to inhabit this planet for very much longer then something besides the climate has got to change.
